Baptism
What Does It Mean To Be Baptized?
What does it mean to be baptized? Summarized in one word, identification. Baptism speaks primarily of a personal and public identification with Jesus Christ through: (1) Christ’s death, (2) burial and (3) resurrection. Through it, we confess publicly we now belong to Christ. It symbolizes our death with Christ and our resurrection by God as a new creation in Christ (Romans 6:3-4). Now that you know what it means, is it necessary for salvation?
Is Baptism Necessary to Be Saved?
Your salvation is not dependent upon being baptized. However, it is a clear command of the Lord Christ (John 3:13 | Matthew 28:19 | Acts 2:28). A truly converted person will long to be baptized in order to be faithful to Christ and His teachings.
How We Baptize
We believe Scripture teaches baptism by water immersion (Mark 1:5,10 | John 3:23 | Romans 6:3-4 | Colossians 2:12) and it is our preferred method; baptism by sprinkling is available upon request. Regardless of the form, it is done in public as a full acknowledgement and testimony to others in the community of the acceptance by the person to be baptized and the Grace of God bestowed on them.
