We always encourage families to bring their children to our Shine Kids and Family Ministries services at the 11 am worship.
At Desert Springs our children’s ministry is much more than “childcare”. We intentionally structure our children’s ministry to help children get to know God and learn the Bible and how it relates to Jesus in an age-appropriate way. The lessons are fun and approachable and taught by committed volunteers and staff who serve Jesus by serving you and your kids. Trust us, your kids will love it and learn a lot!
Our children’s ministry has age-appropriate environments as follows:
Ages 3 and under
Age 4, 5 years and kinder class
1st and 2nd grades
3rd and 4th grades
5th and 6th grades
Look for the building that says Family Ministries near the south entrance of the church. Enter the building, and you will be at our check-in booth for children. Our check-in assistant will register your children for the program. This will take a few minutes, so be sure to allow time. We take the safety and security of your children seriously. All our ministry volunteers have been screened and background checked for safety. Be aware that we have cameras in all kids’ ministry areas and always follow the 2-adults rule. No adult is ever alone with a child. By checking your child in and out of our SHINE! Kids & Family Ministries you can experience the main worship service worry-free.

Your child will use their five senses to experience the events leading up to Easter morning: share the last supper and experience the garden of Gethsemane, see Jesus and the thieves on the cross, enter the tomb, smell the burial spices, and celebrate with the angels – He Is Risen! AWANA (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed – 2 Timothy 2:15) brings Bible-based learning, fun, friendships and more to kids every Wednesday from September through May from 6 – 7:30 pm. Lorraine Hart is ‘Commander’ of our AWANA Clubs who along with her directors and leaders serve kids (September-May) from 2 years (by Sept. 1) to 5th grade.

The Shine! Kids Choir Christmas musical is just around the corner. If you would like to be part of this year’s performance, rehearsals start Wednesday, October 2nd from 5:00 – 5:45 PM.

The 2024 Desert Springs Church’s Vacation Bible School takes place June 24 – 27th. This year is an animal theme, WildLIVE!, where kids encounter creatures from around the planet, complete with amazing skills, special habitats, and surprising features. Through the lessons, students will focus on Jesus’ captivating character and discover how to follow Him in their own “habitats.”

The 2024 Desert Springs Church’s 3rd-5th Graders Summer Camp took place July 14 – 19th at Wild Rock Camp, Forest Home. A total of 34 kids + 8 leaders had a blast exploring the outdoors, making new friends, and learning about each other and God’s love.
