How Do I Know I Am Saved?

Many believers wrestle with this question: How do I know I’m saved from my sins and assured of heaven forever with the Lord?

When I was young, I accepted Jesus into my life. But as I grew older, I began to wonder—Did that really stick? Does God still remember me? Thankfully, the Bible gives a clear and trustworthy answer.

What the Bible Says About Being Saved

Salvation begins when we believe that Jesus is God’s only Son, that He died for our sins on the cross, was buried, and rose from the dead on the third day. We then receive Him into our lives by faith, turning to Him as our Lord and Savior.

John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”

No one else—not a pastor, priest, or friend—can declare you saved. Only Jesus can.

John 14:6 – “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

An Invitation from Jesus

In Revelation 3:20, Jesus says:

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in.”

Have you invited Jesus into your life to forgive your sins? Have you asked Him to help you live for Him? When you do, He promises to forgive you—and to help you grow in faith.

How to Be Sure

One of the most powerful verses on assurance is:

Romans 10:9 – “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

We don’t earn salvation, and we don’t deserve it—it is a gift of grace. So when doubts come, turn them into a prayer of gratitude:
“Lord Jesus, thank You for coming into my life, forgiving my sins, and giving me eternal life. Help me live for You every day.”
