What Is Salvation?

Many people who begin to believe in God soon ask the question, “What is salvation?”

Salvation is at the very heart of the Christian faith—it’s about being saved from sin and given the gift of eternal life in heaven through Jesus Christ.

Why Do We Need Salvation?

The Bible tells us plainly:

• Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”

• Romans 3:10 – “There is none righteous, no, not one.”

Sin is disobeying God. We’ve all done it, and it has impacted not only our own lives but the entire world. This is why we live in a fallen world—broken, imperfect, and marked by suffering.

God’s Answer to Our Need

Despite our sin, God loves us deeply. He made a way for us to be forgiven:

• Jesus, God’s only Son, died on the cross to pay for our sins.

• He rose again to offer us new life forever in heaven.

The Bible says in Acts 4:12 – “There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

What Salvation Really Means

Salvation means being rescued from the penalty of sin—eternal separation from God—and being given eternal life with Him.

• You can’t earn it.

• You can’t deserve it.

• You can’t achieve it through good deeds.
  It’s a gift from God, received by faith in Jesus Christ.

How to Receive Salvation

Jesus said: “The one who believes in Me will live, even if he dies. And everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die.” (John 11:25–26)

All you need to do is believe in Him, accept His sacrifice for your sins, and invite Him into your life. When you do, you are forgiven and promised eternal life with Him.
