What Are The End Times?

A question I hear often is: “Are we living in the end times?”

The “end times” refers to the period leading up to Jesus’ return. After dying for our sins on the cross, being buried, and rising from the dead on the third day, Jesus appeared to His disciples and followers. He promised He would come again.

No One Knows the Day or Hour

Jesus said in Matthew 24:36:

“The day and the hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”

This means no one—not even Jesus Himself—knows when God the Father will say, “It’s time.” If anyone claims to know the exact date of His return, they’re wrong.

Signs That Point to the End Times

While we can’t pinpoint the exact day, the Bible gives us signs that the end is drawing near.

1. Vast Increase in Education and Travel
Daniel 12:4 says that in the end times, “many will go here and there to increase knowledge.” Today, with the internet, universities, online learning, and global communication, education has expanded beyond anything the ancient world could imagine. Travel has also exploded—you can fly anywhere in the world within hours.

2. The Nation of Israel Restored
Isaiah 11 prophesied that Israel would once again become a nation—a sign of the last days. This was fulfilled in 1948 when Israel was reestablished as a sovereign nation.

Living Ready for His Return

The truth is, we are living in the end times. That doesn’t mean we should live in fear—it means we should live in readiness, keeping our hearts right with God and our lives focused on His purposes.

Jesus could return at any time. The question is—are you ready to meet Him?
